In an interview with the media today, Marussia driver Jules Bianchi has revealed he does not know where he will be next season as his Marussia deal expires at the end of this year.

Bianchi who is a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, has raced for Marussia for the past two seasons but has stated he would like to move up the grid. However, his chances of that move being to Ferrari are null and void with the team claiming that both Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen will be staying on next season.

A move to a midfield team could be on the cards, although for now Bianchi says he is in the dark as where his future lies for next season. In his interview with the media today, Bianchi stated the following regarding his future for next season:-

‘I have no idea where I will be next year. I would like some clarity because at the moment I do not know any concrete.’

It is clear that Bianchi does not know where he will be next year and would like some clarity on the issue. But at the moment, the driver market with the remaining seats on the grid is still ongoing and there is no question personally for me that Bianchi will be on some teams list for next season if they can agree a contract with him and his management.

But I understand Bianchi’s desire to get his drive for next season sorted as soon as he possibly can, but he may have to be patient and see which options are the best for him, make a decision when he knows what the options are and make the best option he feels will help him further his career.

Further on in his interview with the media, Bianchi has stated that he is trying to find the best option for next year but is concentrating on the rest of the season still. Bianchi added the following:-

‘We are trying to find the best option for next year but for now I just want to focus on the remaining races of this season.’

As Bianchi says, of course he will want to find the best option for next year and he does deserve a chance with a midfield team if the opportunity presents itself. But he is quite rightly concentrating on doing the best job that he possibly can until the end of the season while his drive for next season is in the process of being sorted out.

But it is clear for all to see that Bianchi shouldn’t be worrying about his seat next season. Even though Bianchi does truly deserve the chance to be a better team than Marussia and have a slightly more competitive car, even if that doesn’t happen, Marussia would resign Bianchi without a shadow of a doubt.

Bianchi has shown this season that he has improved from his rookie season at Marussia. He has shown that he is talented, fast, consistent and is able to extract pace and performance from the car and was rewarded with his first points in Formula One in Monaco after a great drive.

Even if 2015 doesn’t see Bianchi move up the grid from the Marussia team, I believe that 2016 will be the year that he does. And if anyone deserves a competitive drive in Formula One, it is Bianchi. But all Bianchi can do now is wait and see what happens in regards to the remaining seats left in Formula One for 2015 and see if the opportunity to progress up the grid comes to him and I really hope it does.
