3 months after going into administration Marussia’s team principle, John Booth, has revealed the team are close to a rescue deal with a new investor.

“We are at a fairly advanced stage with a new investor – a credible investor” Booth told BBC Sport.

Marussia were to auction their 2014 cars on the 21st of January, which they would need to race in the 2015 season, but the auction has been called off. “Postponing the auction gives us a bit more time to explore it [discussions with investors]”

Booth told the BBC he felt highly confident that the rescue deal could be put together.

The 2014 cars are currently packed up in crates in Abu Dhabi, however preparing them for race-trim would be a “fairly straightforward job” claimed Booth.
