Williams driver Valtteri Bottas says he expects to be closer to Mercedes after being close to the Silver Arrows in the previous race in Japan.
In what has been a fairly lacklustre year for Bottas, only scoring one podium compared to his teammates two, the Finn has been back on form in recent races, out-qualifying Massa in both Singapore and Japan but also finishing in the top five in both.
Bottas enjoyed a strong drive to third in 2014 and is hoping to replicate that this time round.
“We had a good result last year in Russia so we’re expecting another strong weekend and a good collection of points. We all know the track now and it has a really good flow, with the long straights a good fit for our car.
The Finn added Williams were close to Mercedes in Japan in terms of speed, and hopes to be close again this weekend.
“The fans were passionate last year so we look forward to putting on another good show for them. Pace-wise we were close to Mercedes in Japan and I think we can be close again in Sochi, just like we were in 2014.”
