DAMS driver Alex Lynn stormed to his second GP2 pole position of the season ahead of Stoffel Vandoorne and Alexander Rossi.

The Williams reserve and test driver mastered the treacherous conditions to take pole position.

The man on provisional pole position changed constantly throughout the session making it one of the most exciting qualifying sessions of the season.

A rookie error from ART and Vandoorne meant the Belgian did not have a chance to set one final lap after misjudging how long of the session was left and failed to start his final flying lap before the chequered flag dropped.

Manor Formula One driver Alexander Rossi qualified third ahead of Pierre Gasly, who was blocked by teammate Lynn. Arthur Pic was fifth fastest ahead of the returning Johnny Cecotto Jr.

Raffaele Marciello, Raffaele Marciello, Norman Nato and Sergey Sirotkin rounded out the top ten positions.

Mitch Evans qualified a disappointing eighteenth while Sean Gelael was slowest out of the 24 runners.
