Sebastien Buemi was happy with his perfect weekend points-wise, even though he pointed out a couple negative points about the performance.
Buemi left the opening race in Beijing with a maximum points haul of 30, with 25 given for the race win, three for gaining pole position earlier in the day and the final two for setting the fastest lap in the race.
“It was a perfect race. I had a bad start, to be honest; Nick [Heidfeld] had a fantastic start, “ Buemi said at the post-race press conference. “In the end it’s a perfect weekend and I’ve never scored all the points [before].”
In fact, he became the first driver to get pole position, the fastest lap and the win in a Formula E race. Only two drivers gained points from two of the three ways last year, Buemi being one of them and Sam Bird the other.
“We took it easy at the pitstop, I don’t know what time we did, but we took it really easy. Then at the restart, out of the garage, I completely locked the front tyres and went straight, so I could have lost much more than that.”
While Buemi and the Renault e.Dams team won the race convincingly by over 10 seconds to Lucas Di Grassi, his teammate Nicolas Prost didn’t fare so well. Prost had to retire four laps from the end after trying to carry on with a badly damaged rear wing.
