Felipe Nasr will race in front of his home crowd for the first time in his Formula One weekend at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace in São Paulo.
The Brazilian has enjoyed a strong first season in Formula One, scoring a fantastic fifth place at the season opener in Melbourne. Since then, Sauber’s form has dipped due to the inevitable progression of the development race.
Like any driver racing at their home race, Nasr says he is looking forward to it and the atmosphere the passionate Brazilian fans will create.
“I am really looking forward to my first ever Formula One Grand Prix in Interlagos. I am sure there is going to be a lot of energy around the track from all the fans. It will be a very exciting weekend for me representing my home country in Formula One.
This weekend is not the first time Nasr has driven a Formula One car in front of the Brazilian crowd. Last season, he replaced Valtteri Bottas at Williams in first practice.
“Last year I drove in FP1 for Williams, which was a nice feeling. But racing in Formula One in front of my home crowd is a dream I have always had. Considering our motorsport history, it is not only a pleasure and honour but also a moment to remember.”
