Manor Marussia Sporting Director Graeme Lowdon has confirmed he will be departing from the team at the end of the season.
Prior to the Mexican Grand Prix, both Lowdon and John Booth, team principal of Manor Marussia, had tended their resignations at Manor, but both refused to comment on the speculation.
The duo were instrumental in the team’s revival at the start of 2014 and helping the team secure Mercedes engines for next season.
“Abu Dhabi will be my last race with the team,” Lowdon stated. “But rather than focus on the reasons [for leaving the team], I’d rather focus on the most important task, which was to make sure that the team continued racing.
“We had to stop before the end of last season, we weren’t in Abu Dhabi last year, and that required an awful lot of hard work and commitment as well. It’s well documented…
“In my own opinion, a Formula 1 racing team is a pretty precious thing and something that deserves effort in making sure it continued, and my belief in the team at that stage never wavered once.
“This is probably my only opportunity to thank a few people who were instrumental in the team continuing.”
Abu Dhabi will be my last race in F1 with the Team We missed the Abu Dhabi race in 2014 and I am very happy that we will be there in 2015. G
