Trulli set for Formula E exit

The Trulli Formula E Team is expected to miss the next round of the championship in Punta del Este, signalling a withdrawal from the series.

Autosport.com has reported that the team will miss the race in Uruguay and announce it is to leave the championship within the next week.

It had already been a difficult start to the second season campaign for the Trulli team after missing most of preseason testing at Donington Park, although remaining committed to the new Motomatica power units. With the cars stuck in customs in China they missed the opening round of the season, before announcing a ‘breach of contract’ of their driver Salvador Duran at the Malaysian round in Putrajaya which they later went on to miss as well.

Losing a team will mean 18 cars on the grid for the second season of the championship, although Jaguar are rumoured to be entering for season three in a partnership with Williams Advanced Engineering.

It leaves driver Tonio Luizzi and Salvador Duran without drives, but the Mexican could be parachuted into a seat for the Mexican ePrix in March.
