Kevin Magnussen has revealed he received no help from McLaren in securing his 2016 race seat with Renault
McLaren decided not to renew Magnussen’s reserve driver contract, stating they did not wish to hamper his career by holding on to the talented driver.
At the time of the announcement, Ron Dennis made clear himself and the team would do all they could to help Magnussen on the next chapter of his race career.
But when asked if he had received any help from McLaren following the announcement of his Renault drive Magnussen said to AUTOSPORT: “No, McLaren didn’t help me.”
The Danish driver is now looking forward to reigniting his racing career with Renault in 2016, following a year of very little opportunities. He also feels a more positive pressure with the French team compared to his time with McLaren.
“It’s nice to have a fresh start, I’m happy to be with this team. It’s a brilliant opportunity.
“I feel much more relaxed this time, I felt a lot of pressure the first time around with McLaren.
“I feel pressure now but in a more positive way.
“I feel more ready, I feel good.”
