Koiranen GP will be using just two drivers in their team in the Malaysian round of the GP3 Series this weekend.
Ralph Boschung has had to vacate his seat for this round due to financial problems, leaving just Matt Parry and Matevos Isaakyan in the team.
It will be their lowest number of drivers in the team for a weekend since the sixth round of last season’s championship in Monza, where only Jimmy Eriksson and Parry were involved.
Boschung has previously left his seat for a round, being replaced by Red Bull’s Niko Kari for the round at Spa.
Kari is racing in European Formula Three this weekend for Motopark in Imola, although it is not known whether he would have been approached again by the team if free.
The decision may affect the chances of the team scoring points at the track, with the team have fallen down in the Teams’ Championship in the last two rounds.
Koiranen had been in the fight for second place, however, after scoring just 14 points in the last four races, and due to other teams such as Arden having an upturn in form in recent events, they have fallen to fourth.
They currently sit on 137 points, 28 behind third-placed Trident and 50 behind Arden in second.
This is the second time this season that the team have had to reduce the size of their team, following Mahaveer Raghunathan leaving after the first round in Spain.
