Jenzer Motorsport’s Alessio Lorandi has said that he is ready to take on the GP3 series for the first time this weekend.
The Italian driver will drive for the team in their #19 car for the last two rounds of the 2016 season, starting in Malaysia. It will be his first time racing at the Sepang International Circuit.
The immediate task for Lorandi will be to get used to his new surroundings, with teammates Arjun Maini and Akash Nandy at the Jenzer team.
He has been racing in the first seven rounds of this season’s European Formula Three series for Carlin, which has proven an effective step on the motorsport ladder for other current GP3 drivers.

Lorandi is the seventh driver on the current grid, alongside Jake Dennis, championship leader Charles Leclerc, Alex Albon, Santino Ferrucci, Arjun Maini and Tatiana Calderon to have raced in that series in 2015.
The young driver is excited to start his GP3 career and become the 19th driver in the last seven years of the series to make their debut with the Swiss team.
“I can tell you I’m really looking forward to the weekend,” Lorandi said.
Despite teammate Maini having a brilliant start to his campaign at Jenzer, scoring a podium in his fourth race, having come into the series straight from Euro F3, Lorandi isn’t expecting too much from his debut.
He just wants to smoothly go about his race weekend and gain knowledge of the GP3-16 car and Pirelli tyres.
“It’ll all be very new because I’ll be driving with a new car for me with new tyres for me and in a new track as well, so I don’t expect ‘big things’ but I’m here to learn and get used to the car as quickly as possible.
“[It] won’t be easy but I’m happy to take the challenge.”
