The 2016-17 season will be an interesting one for ABT Schaeffler Audi, who have continued to make inroads into Renault’s championship dominance since the beginning of the series.
After finishing in third in the Teams’ Championship with 165 points in 2014-15, they improved to a second-place finish in 2015-16, finishing just 49 points behind their rivals with 221 points and taking the battle to the final rounds in London.
The team’s line-up remains unchanged for a third consecutive campaign, with Lucas di Grassi continuing to partner Daniel Abt.
One of the most exciting things to look forward to for the team is a factory-backed alliance with Audi for the 2017-18 season. Audi will begin the other parts of their partnership by helping ABT with financial and technical assistance this season.
It is clear where the team want to be at the end of the season. Di Grassi is already looking towards the championship, expressing his wish to be champion by July.
“After a bronze and a silver medal, only a gold is missing from our collection. We are highly motivated and for sure want to play a leading role again,” di Grassi said.
“But teams and drivers will be even more closely aligned. We are about to experience the most diverse and perhaps most exciting Formula E season.”
During their time in the series, they have claimed 17 podiums with both drivers, one more than Renault e.dams and could become the first team to claim 25 podiums in the series in 2016-17.
Here is a look at the details on the team’s preparation, their drivers and possibilities ahead of the first race of the season in Hong Kong.
