Renault e.dams driver Sebastien Buemi has said that he is delighted with his ‘positive’ start to the new Formula E season after continuing his 100% race win record to season three of the Formula E Championship.
The Swiss driver followed up his opening race win in Hong Kong with another victory in the Marrakesh ePrix, finishing ahead of DS Virgin Racing’s Sam Bird and Mahindra Racing’s pole sitter Felix Rosenqvist.
He is only without pole positions and fastest laps in season three, dropping just eight points so far.
Buemi said that both of his two cars were a pleasure to drive around the track despite a small worry on the opening lap.
“My cars were amazing today and the balance was really good,” Buemi said.
“In my first lap I used a bit too much energy but after that we were able to save charge so we could be strong and push when we needed later in the stint, and this really worked for us.”

The 28-year-old initially had a mountain to climb after being demoted to seventh on the grid with a five-place grid penalty for a faulty extinguisher lowering the weight of his car. However, Buemi insisted that it was never a problem as he and the team had faith in the ability of their package to make the necessary overtakes.
“We know we have an efficient car and we had to take advantage of that after we started further back on the grid than we wanted. I was able to extract everything I needed from the car and it shows the team is working really well, so it’s been a very positive start to the season.”
The result means that he sits on top of the Drivers’ Championship with 50 points, 22 points ahead of usual rival, ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport’s Lucas di Grassi.
His tally of points this season represents his best start to a Formula E season and the most points any driver has had after the first two rounds of a season, with his 2015-16 total of 31 points after two races now beaten, whilst di Grassi‘s total of 43 points after two rounds in season one has also been surpassed.
