Kehm: Schumacher’s health to be kept private

Sabine Kehm, Michael Schumacher’s manager, has reiterated that the health of the seven-time world champion will remain a private matter.

Nearly three years after his skiing accident where he suffered serious head injuries, many fans are still wishing the German legend well but there are still some that are curious to find out the extent of his injuries.

“Michael’s health is not a public issue, and so we will continue to make no comment in that regard,” she was quoted by Crash.net. “This is also because we have to protect his intimate sphere. Legally and in the longer term, every statement related to his health would diminish the extent of his intimate sphere.”

“We are aware that this may be difficult for some people to understand but we do this with full commitment to Michael’s guidelines and can only thank people for their understanding.”

In a court case back in September, it was revealed that he could not walk, but other injuries as a result of his accident are still being kept out of the media spotlight.

“Michael has always been very protective of his privacy, even during the most successful times of his career. He has always made sure there is a clear and distinct line between his public persona and his private one,” Kehm added.

The Schumacher family recently launched the ‘Keep Fighting’ initiative, to help channel the positive attitudes that Michael himself always used throughout his career.

“We would like to encourage others to never give up,” his wife Corinna said.

“Fans throughout the world are always posting messages of good health to Michael and his family using the Keep Fighting’ hashtag also, this message also still appears on the Mercedes cars ever since his accident.

“We are now celebrating the loyalty of the fans by a range of initiatives, including exhibitions, social media and now Keep Fighting. Most of the fans have expressed their appreciation and have embraced these initiatives.”
