With news that Indonesia’s Rio Haryanto won’t be returning to the Formula One grid in 2017, as well as moves for Pascal Wehrlein and Esteban Ocon, there are now two vacant seats at Manor for this season.
It also comes at a difficult time for the team as new investors being sought following the failure to beat Sauber to 10th in the Constructors’ championship last year.
There are many possibilities as to who could fulfil the driving duties within the team. But there could be a delay if current owner Stephen Fitzpatrick decides not to hire in case any new owners may want to seek talent from other sources.
The most likely scenario is that whoever does get brought in will likely need to be bringing substantial backing with them and qualify for a Formula One superlicence.
Manor Racing are a fantastic small outfit who enjoy punching above their weight, with 2017 an opportunity to capitalise on the new chassis regulations, the Banbury-based team could well surprise the field with their package providing all the pieces fall into place.
So who could potentially fill those seats?
