GP3 race-winner Jack Aitken has joined ART Grand Prix for the 2017 season.

He will drive their #1 car and joins Nirei Fukuzumi (#2) and George Russell (#3) at the team. Aitken will also remain with the Renault Sport Academy for a second season of support from the French manufacturer.

The 21-year-old makes the step up after spending his debut season with Arden in 2016. He won his first race at the Belgian sprint race on his way to claiming six podiums in the final seven races of the season. The British/Korean driver finished fifth in the Drivers’ Championship.

His year also saw him claim a win and a pole position in the Spanish Formula Three championship and a pole position in the Formula V8 3.5 championship in select appearances.

He also took part in the first two days of post-season testing with the team at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, finishing second in three of his four sessions.

Testing for the new season of the series begins in Estoril on March 22-23.
