Arjun Maini is set for a first full GP3 season at Jenzer in 2017 after being announced as its first driver for the new season of racing.

The Indian driver began his career in the series in the third round of 2016 in Silverstone with the team after starting his year in European Formula Three.

He went on to claim 50 points during seven rounds, finishing 10th in the Drivers’ Championship. His best result came with a second-place finish at the Hungarian sprint race in July.

The 19-year-old has also received attention from other teams, working with ART Grand Prix and Trident during post-season testing in Abu Dhabi in December.

Maini stated that his clear goal for the 2017 campaign is to go one better and stand on the top step of the podium for the first time.

“I think I will be more stable this year because I will be contesting the season from the start and look forward to my first GP3 win,” he said.

“I missed the important tests at the beginning of last year and I am looking forward to 2017.”

Jenzer has not won a race in the series since Patric Niederhauser was victorious twice in the 2012 season.
