The Estrella Galicia 0,0 duo of Franco Morbidelli and Alex Marquez ended the second day of pre-season testing from Jerez top of the pile, the pair split by just over two tenths of a second.

Yesterday’s action saw both Marc VDS riders get off to a slow start, the duo just over seven tenths off of the pace respectively. Morbidelli posted his best effort of 1m42.301s in the opening session of the day, and his position at the top of the time sheets remained unchallenged as the day wore on.

Team-mate Marquez put in a 1m42.546s in the final session to go second overall, with Idemitsu Honda Team Asia’s Takaaki Nakagami completing the top three on a 1m42.729s.

Pons’ new signing and Moto2 debutant Fabio Quartararo lowered his lap time from Wednesday by seven tenths to a 1m42.844s to go an impressive fourth fastest ahead of Forward Racing’s Luca Marini.

Mattia Pasini guided his Italtrans machine to sixth, whilst Gresini’s Jorge Navarro and Quartararo’s team-mate Edgar Pons slotted into seventh and eighth respectively.

Kiefer Racing’s Danny Kent was the first of the non-Kalex riders on his Suter in ninth, with RW Racing’s Axel Pons completing the top 10.

Khairul Idham Pawi continued to post some impressive times on his Team Asia machine. The double Moto3 race winner, making his Moto2 debut this year, managed a 1m43.156s in the third session to end the day 11th.

Dominique Aegerter took the chequered flag in 12th on the second Kiefer bike, with AGR’s Yonny Hernandez, yesterday’s fastest man Miguel Oliveria and Interwetten’s Tom Luthi rounding out the top 15.

The Moto2 riders have just three more sessions left of the Jerez test, the first of which getting underway tomorrow morning from 10:00 (GMT+1).
