Koiranen GP will miss the first GP3 test of 2017 at Circuito do Estoril this week, the series has confirmed.

Rumours over its stay in the series have circulated since Autosport revealed that it was unsure over its future in the series after four years of racing.

The team finished 2016 with its worst-ever finish in the Teams’ Championship in fifth place after using just two drivers in the last two races of 2016 after Ralph Boschung failed to complete his second season in the category.

Despite Matt Parry and Boschung claiming a win each during the year, it could only gather 147 points, with its total reducing for the third straight year.

It had also lost Mahaveer Raghunathan to Auto GP earlier in the season, putting its numbers down from four drivers to three before Boschung’s absence.

In other testing news, Jenzer Motorsport will field just two drivers in the test as part of the smallest driver combination on the grid. Alessio Lorandi and Arjun Maini continue as team-mates after working together in the final two rounds of 2016.

The first test begins tomorrow (March 22) at 0900 CET and concludes at 1700 CET, with a break for lunch between 1200 and 1400 CET.
