Lewis Hamilton has maintained his stance on Ferrari from the second pre-season test, believing they are still the favourites heading into the opening round of the 2017 season.
After a strong winter testing program for the Italian team, they were consistently near the top of the timesheets throughout all eight days of running.
With strong reliability and what appears to be plenty of speed surround the SF70H, Hamilton is sure Ferrari are holding something back and have the speed to fight Mercedes.
During Thursday’s press conference, Hamilton said: “I see Ferrari being the quickest; they’re definitely the favourites, but Sebastian is trying to keep a lid on it.”
The Briton also believes Red Bull has not fully shown their hand and still has more speed to deliver on track.
Despite not topping the timesheets throughout testing, Red Bull had shown plenty of consistency when not held back by small reliability issues.
He added: “I’m also keen to see what Red Bull brings here. We didn’t see them bring many upgrades to the car, so I assume they’re going to bring something.”
Without giving too many compliments to his rivals during the press conference, Hamilton was quick to talk up his own chances for the season.
The three-time world champion added: “As far as I’m aware, no team has won back-to-back titles through regulation changes, so we’re here to do what nobody else has done.”
