Mercedes has vowed to come back stronger in the future after taking steps to investigate how it was beaten to victory by Ferrari at the Australian Grand Prix.
After suffering from poor tyre wear early on in the race it forced Lewis Hamilton to pit earlier than his rivals, however, this did not work and left themselves vulnerable.
Sebastian Vettel managed to stay out longer and with Hamilton stuck behind the Red Bull of Max Verstappen, this meant a gap appeared for Ferrari to maximise the situation and pit Vettel accordingly.
As quoted by Motorsport.com talking about the team’s loss, Toto Wolff said: “It’s personality-building. I think you just lose some and you win some.
“We have been very fortunate in the last three years that we won most of the race. And now it’s about accepting that here Ferrari beat us.
“We will come back stronger. We didn’t have great testing and we didn’t have a great Sunday, but we will leave no stone unturned in order to win more.”

Despite the three years of dominance by Mercedes, Wolff does not feel bad that he lost out to his rivals, stating he knew they were always a threat after feeling their pressure in recent years.
“We always considered Red Bull or Ferrari to be real competitors and they were,” added Wolff.
“So therefore the perception or the perspective is absolutely the same.
“I’d much rather win than lose but it’s part of Formula 1. We had an exceptional run the last three years. You cannot expect to continue forever.
“It was clear the moment was going to come where we need to lose with humility, and accept that somebody else had done a better job, and that’s what happened. They had done a great job and Sebastian is a deserved race winner.”
