Trident’s Dorian Boccolacci has continued his form from the second test to set the fastest time in the first day of the final GP3 pre-season test at Valencia.

The French driver set a time of 1m21.191s late in the morning session to lead the way overall ahead of ART driver Jack Aitken by just over a tenth of a second. This was the third straight session which Boccolacci has led.

George Russell finished third in the morning before claiming the fastest time of the afternoon, 1m21.814s, 0.002s ahead of Alessio Lorandi and 0.020s ahead of Boccolacci. Many drivers focused on long runs and failed to improve their earlier laps. Only Campos’ Raoul Hyman managed to improve his time in the afternoon, finding just 0.021s compared to the first session.

Hyman was one of two drivers to disrupt the second session due to red flags, with the South African and Giuliano Alesi coming to a halt on track.

ART’s Anthoine Hubert finished fourth overall in the timings ahead of Trident’s Ryan Tveter and Campos’ Marcos Siebert, with both of the latter finishing in the top-six for the first time during testing.

Lorandi placed ahead of Jenzer team-mate Arjun Maini in seventh, while DAMS’ Santino Ferrucci and ART’s Nirei Fukuzumi completed the top-10, just 0.492s behind Boccolacci’s time.

Bruno Baptista was last in the timesheets for the second straight session in the morning, 1.193s slower than the leader and one of just two drivers outside of a second of the fastest lap.
