Callum Ilott becomes the third double winner of the season in the final European Formula 3 race in Monza. The Prema Powerteam driver shot off from third on the grid into the lead, where he was left untroubled for the 20 lap race.

It was another poor start for Lando Norris. The Carlin driver dropped back to fourth off of the line, but quickly set about recovering. Though Maximilian Gunther and Joel Eriksson put up a strong fight, Norris eventually made his way up to second. The rookie couldn’t get close enough to Ilott to pose a challenge for the race win, and had to settle for second once again.

The battle for third involved the other two early championship contenders. Gunther and Eriksson spent the 20 laps swapping positions, with Guan Yu Zhou trying to get into the mix early on. The pair fell away from Norris and Ilott, until Gunther managed to pull away from Eriksson. The Prema driver, who had only taken one podium so far this season, set about catching up with Norris, and eventually finished nearly three seconds behind him.

The next battle on track saw Zhou, Ralf Aron, Ferdinand Habsburg, Mick Schumacher, and Pedro Piquet battle for position. Almost every corner saw drivers forced to swap from attack to defence as positions changed.

Habsburg eventually emerged on top, taking fifth behind Eriksson. Schumacher crossed the line in sixth ahead of Piquet and Aron.

Zhou lost out to Jehan Daruvala late in the race. Daruvala started eighth, but ran into trouble when he tried to pass Motopark’s Keyvan Andres Soori. The pair made contact and Soori was sent airborne and into the gravel. The car was removed under yellow flags, and the collision deemed a racing incident by the stewards.

Joey Mawson and Marino Sato came together on the final lap, leaving Mawson with broken suspension. Sato was able to finish the race, crossing the line 12th.
