Kawasaki’s Jonathan Rea continued to lead the timesheets at Donington Park at the end of second practice, with team-mate Tom Sykes close behind in second.
Despite a small tumble at the Melbourne hairpin in the early stages of FP1, Rea still went on to finish the session top of the pile. His time came under little threat while he focused on race set-up for much of FP2, and in the closing stages he popped in a 1m27.740s to remain top of the pile.

Team-mate Sykes put in several laps that looked like potential challengers, but could only manage a 1m27.862s at the chequered flag, keeping him in second. Completing the top three was Leon Haslam on his JG Speedfit-backed Puccetti Kawasaki.
British Superbike Championship leader Haslam was an impressive sixth this morning, and was able to shave off four tenths of a second in FP2 to jump to third ahead of the Ducati duo of Marco Melandri and Chaz Davies.
Alex Lowes joined the already fairly sizeable list of riders to come to blows with the Melbourne hairpin, the Yamaha rider sliding off halfway through the session. Suffering no real effect from the crash, the Briton went on to post the sixth fastest time of the day, shuffling team-mate Michael van der Mark to seventh on the combined times.

Milwaukee Aprilia’s Lorenzo Savadori, much like van der Mark and Melandri ahead of him, failed to improve on his FP1 best but remains eighth, the same going for Leon Camier in ninth. IodaRacing’s Tati Mercado fell off at Turn 8 in the closing minutes, but still managed to secure a place in Superpole two with a 1m28.683s in 10th.
Team Go Eleven Kawasaki’s Roman Ramos came agonisingly close to a top 10 time while following Lowes in the closing stages in 11th. Eugene Laverty was unable to improve on his morning best and was knocked back to a disappointing 12th, with Xavi Fores, Alex De Angelis and Jordi Torres completing the top 15.
