Motopark’s David Beckmann topped the times in the official test session ahead of the sixth round of the European Formula 3 championship at Spa.
Beckmann, who moved to Motopark midway through the season, set a time of 2m31.404s in the wet morning session.
The rain continued into the afternoon session, when Lando Norris was fastest. Norris’ lap was just a tenth of a second slower than Beckmann’s and he ended the day second fastest overall.
Prema Powerteam’s Callum Ilott was the only other driver to set a lap time fastest than 2m32s.
Points leader Maximilian Gunther finished the day fifth fastest, just behind championship rival Joel Eriksson.
Max Defourney, who was testing with Van Amersfoort, was 16th fastest. The Eurocup regular hasn’t yet been entered for this weekend’s races, with the team expected to make a decision based on today’s performance.
Championship newcomer Ameya Vaidyanathan ended the day slowest in his first outing in a European F3 car, nearly three seconds slower than Beckmann.
