McLaren junior Lando Norris topped the times in practice ahead of the Spa round of the European Formula 3 championship.
Norris and Carlin team-mates Ferdinand Habsburg and Jehan Daruvala found time in their final laps of the session to jump up the order, knocking Prema Powerteam’s Maximilian Gunther to fourth. Norris, the only man to set a time under 2m29s, was eight tenths of a second faster than Habsburg, who took second.
Mick Schumacher topped the times early in the second practice session, but dropped down the order as others improved. In the final few minutes, he jumped back up to the sharp end of the field, finishing fifth after the Carlin improvements.
Championship contender Joel Eriksson finished sixth. The Motopark driver could only manage 10th fastest in the first practice session, but improved after the break. Callum Ilott, who is currently fourth in the points standings, set the 15th fastest lap after finishing second in the first practice session.
Joey Mawson, Guanyu Zhou, Ralf Aron and Nikita Mazepin completed the top 10.
