Prema Powerteam locks out the front row of the grid for the second and third European Formula 3 races at Hockenheim, with Callum Ilott and Maximilian Gunther sharing pole positions.

Ilott was fastest overall in the second qualifying, two tenths of a second quicker than championship contender Gunther. The pair swapped positions back and forth at the top of the order, with Lando Norris joining them in the fight for pole early in the session.

As the Prema drivers continued to find improvements, Norris couldn’t keep up and dropped down the order, eventually finishing seventh overall.

Guanyu Zhou made it a Prema 1-2-3 in qualifying, and will start race two alongside Jake Hughes. Pedro Piquet and Joel Eriksson occupy the third row of the grid.

Tadasuke Makino, Nikita Mazepin, and Ralf Aron round out the top 10.

Gunther’s second fastest lap was a hundredth of a second quicker than Ilott’s, putting him ahead of his team-mate on the grid for the final race of the season. He takes pole, ahead of Ilott, Zhou, and Hughes.

Norris fared slightly better with his second fastest lap and will start the final race of the championship from sixth on the grid.

Juri Vips was the best placed of those new to the championship and will start race two 17th, alongside F4 rival Felipe Drugovich.
