Jamie Chadwick Completes 32 Laps in Maiden Williams Formula 1 Test
Jamie Chadwick completed 32 laps in Williams’ 2025 Formula 1 car at the Algarve International Circuit in Portimao, driving under Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) regulations. It was Chadwick’s first run in a Williams F1 machine and one of the team’s scheduled TPC outings this year.
The Jamie Chadwick Williams F1 test marks the first time a woman has driven a Williams car since Susie Wolff took the wheel for the team over a decade ago. Chadwick has built her career in single-seaters, including a spell in Indy NXT, and the Portimao run gave her a rare taste of current F1 machinery.
Official Details and Chadwick Comments on Portimao Outing
Speaking to Sky Sports F1 and quoted in the Motorsport.com report, Chadwick described the day as one that passed her by. “Very surreal. It all went far too quick, honestly,” she said.
She went further when asked to sum up the experience: “It was a day or half a day that just went by so fast, but I’m so glad, because you dream of things like this, and you dream of days like this. Often with things like that, you never know how you’re going to feel on the day, or how it’s actually going to be, and the reality of it was what I expected times ten.”
Chadwick also spoke about what the day did for her view of the sport. “Now my appreciation for this sport, and for Formula 1 in particular, has gone through the roof. The car is phenomenal. The circuit was also phenomenal. I’m very, very grateful to Williams for the opportunity,” she said.
Williams Milestones and Wider Driver Context
Chadwick’s test carries real weight in Williams’ history. Susie Wolff drove for the team more than eleven years ago, and Chadwick was clearly aware of what that day meant. “I mention it in the feature, but I really clearly remember the day Susie did her day. It feels quite surreal, 11 years later, to be hopping inside a car like that, and having the privilege to drive it. So, very grateful to everyone that’s part of it,” she said.
The Portimao test also sits within a broader pattern of TPC outings for female drivers across the grid. Doriane Pin tested the Mercedes W12 at Silverstone in April 2026, while Jessica Hawkins drove Aston Martin’s 2021 car back in 2023. Both sessions, like Chadwick’s, ran under TPC rules that let teams put drivers in older cars away from a full race weekend. Upcoming Timeline for Chadwick and Williams
Williams have not announced any further test dates for Chadwick, and nothing beyond the Portimao outing has been confirmed. The Crash.net coverage of the day placed it firmly in the context of the team’s continuing TPC commitments through the rest of the season.
For now, the 32 laps at Portimao stand as Chadwick’s only Formula 1 mileage with Williams. Our round-up of recent motorsport talking points has more on how teams across the paddock are using TPC running this year.
